The Background
Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine has opened its doors for more than 130 seasons on the Maine coast. This historic resort was acquired by new ownership in 2019 and has enjoyed a windfall of capital improvements that update the property while preserving and amplifying its much-loved character.
The Objective
Generate visibility for the resort in a way that unites its 21st century design sensibilities, historic character, and timeless summer attitudes into one amplified message.
The Approach
Tapping a pair of Maine-based social influencers and professional antique-pickers (@jackiegreaney & @pjhavel, we reimagined three of Spruce Point Inn’s historic accommodations. The resulting redecoration transformed three historic cottages with bright colors, patterns, and whimsical objects, all rooted in Maine nostalgia and completed on a modest budget.
The Results
In addition to visibility gained through Jackie & Paul’s social accounts, our media pitching yielded design coverage from local and regional outlets, reaching a combined readership of more than 15 million. Further, the redesigned accommodations served as the perfect venue to host future social influencers, resulting in an additional 4 million media impressions that season. The coverage generated eye-catching visibility, on-message visuals, and signaled the resort’s intention to preserve its beloved traditions while staying engaged with the present.
